Do you remember when you started thinking about serving others in the scope of your work? For some, leadership is thought of as a talent, a natural gift of personality and character blended with opportunity. For others, leadership is a skill set that is honed over time blending education and experience to create a unique style and approach to being in service to others. Either way, leadership is a calling for those who feel the propensity to lead others as an opportunity to provide added value back to the community.

While serving others in an official leadership capacity is not always the desire for all, those who choose to help others by providing guidance and leadership take on the responsibility to advocate, mentor, and support so that they can contribute to a stronger community. Strong communities have strong libraries and library leaders go above and beyond to provide the highest quality of service to help make the world a better place.

Everyone can make a difference in libraries and leaders are here to listen, offer support, and create opportunities for everyone to feel welcomed and to know that they belong in the library field. There has never been a better time to be a librarian!
