    Cindy's Vision for ALA

One ALA Where We All Belong

As a connector, Cindy builds sustainable relationships using active listening, and she strives to create welcoming spaces where everyone knows that they belong. A healthy culture is everything, and leaders focus on building equitable work plans for unification. Cindy is committed to helping everyone learn and grow together while embracing the importance of their unique identity. While incorporating restorative practices takes time, being thoughtful in action will provide us with a meaningful experience for everyone working in libraries as we move towards garnering a deep understanding of intersectionality as introduced by Kimberlé Crenshaw. Learning for the win!

    The Future is Overdue

Leadership Call to Action: Hire, Retain, Support & Promote Spectrum Scholars! There is a great deal of healing that needs to happen within libraries and in order to create stronger teams, we need to embrace the value that diversity of staff brings to our organizations. The community demographics that you serve should be reflected in your staff and board; we are stronger together. As a proud Spectrum Scholar, I say this is an easy button!

Learn about the Spectrum Scholarship Program and I offer my sincere appreciation and gratitude for the leaders who envisioned and championed this program into existence. Pidamaya ye, thank you!
